Maid Stop Replacement Information

Dear Maid Stop,

I hope you are able to access this blog.  I have been unable to return your call, but left a list of replacement information on the day of our last cleaning.  However, the list was not taken.

My husband and I have not been using Maid Stop (formally Maid Brigade) for long.  I would say that something has been broken or damaged at least 25% of the time.  This is not normal for a cleaning service.

During our first cleaning, our brand new coffee pot was broken.  There was a crack down the side of the plastic and the water leaked out whenever the water was heated.  I got this coffee pot for $35 on Black Friday, so $35 was taken off our bill.

A couple months later, I got a phone call that a vase had been broken.  The only vases we had out were relatively inexpensive, so I was not concerned.  The woman I talked to on the phone sounded surprised that I was not more upset.  I could later see why.  It was not a vase that was broken, but our delicate glass water pitcher.  It was a wedding present and is no longer made.  Maid Brigade said they would replace it, but I could not find anything that I liked that was of equal quality.  I still had not found a replacement when Maid Brigade went out of business.

I have finally found a replacement, so I hope Maid Stop will honor it.  It is the same employees.

Last month, Alan and I came home to a note that another thing had been broken.  It did not say what had been broken.  The next day, I got a call saying it was a cake plate.  We have two cake plates.  One is a very inexpensive cut-glass plate.  The other is a delicate glass lipped cake plate with a beautiful glass dome that fits inside.  They broke the expensive one.  It was another one of our wedding presents.  Bed Bath and Beyond still sells this cake plate, so it can be replaced.

Last week, the house was cleaned again.  The house looked fine, but when I went to take my prescription medication that night, I saw that they were damaged.  At first, I thought that it was only water that had gotten inside of my pill container.  However, some of the pills had turned black, which makes me think it was a reaction with cleaning solution.  I am a chemist and know evidence of chemical change.  I lost three days worth of medication.

To say I am upset is an understatement.  We are paying a lot of money to have our house cleaned, yet we feel that we cannot trust the service.  Every month we come home wondering what has been broken or damaged this time.  This needs to be rectified.  --- Megan and Alan Noraddin
